30 CAF Workshops on Theory of Change By End-2019
As of July, CAF—development bank of Latin America— had held six Workshops on Theory of Change, as part of the assessments advanced in the region, totaling almost 30 since the creation of the Directorate of Impact Assessment and Policy Learning. These workshops build capacities of public officials for policy and management decision-making.
As part of the impact assessments advanced by CAF, the Directorate of Impact Assessment and Policy Learning (DEIAP) has organized these Workshops on Theory of Change for more than two hundred public officials in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Theory of Change is a methodological tool for a detailed design of a program’s roadmap to bring about change or produce a solution to a need of the target population. Theory of Change can also be defined as a guide that shows the way to a desired destination and what we need to do to get there.
The main goal of the Theory of Change Workshop is to work hand-in-hand with public policy makers or change managers in building the causal chain of interventions to be implemented, in order to validate assumptions and define indicators to be monitored based on the program scope, budget and schedule.
With this activity CAF, continues to create useful knowledge for civil servants of the region, building their capacities to improve decision-making in implementing public policies.
