CAF and FIIC to Join Forces for Latin America Physical Integration
The institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote and develop joint projects and actions in the area of infrastructure and construction in Latin America.
In order to promote regional physical integration, CAF— development bank of Latin America—and the Inter-American Federation of the Construction Industry (FIIC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing their willingness to join forces to advance and develop joint projects and actions in the area of infrastructure and construction in Latin America.
The Memorandum was signed in Washington, D.C., as part of the 23rd CAF Annual Conference, by CAF executive president, Luis Carranza Ugarte, and the president of FIIC, Gonzalo Delgado Ramírez, in the presence of Sergio Torretti, coordinator of International Financial Institutions at FIIC. “Our technical and financial capabilities, regional presence in 19 and 18 countries respectively, and decades of experience of both institutions will allow us to join forces to foster development and improve the quality of life of the population,” said Carranza Ugarte.
The areas to be developed jointly include reducing the infrastructure gap in Latin America; infrastructure for sustainability and productivity; binational infrastructure; regional private public partnerships; transparency, anti-corruption mechanisms and integrity in public infrastructure projects; decent work with a focus on employability and stable jobs in major civil works; transfer of knowledge, technology and methodologies applicable to the regional infrastructure sector; among others.
Finally, this Memorandum also calls for collaboration in joint projects and studies, exchange of information and documents on issues of common interest.
