USD 42 million to transform Contagem's mobility
A set of CAF loans will be used to build an integrated mobility system, such as BRT, bike lanes and urban roads recovered.
A USD 42 million loan agreement was signed in Brasilia between CAF - development bank of Latin America- and the Municipal Government of Contagem, to allow the implementation of the Integrated Mobility System Program of the municipality. The meeting was attended by the representative of CAF in Brazil, Jaime Holguín, the mayor of Contagem, Alexis de Freitas and federal prosecutor Suely Dib de Sousa e Silva, among other authorities.
“The new mobility system will change the way in which the citizens of Contagem mobilize , providing more agility, access to services and workplaces, it is also a contribution to the comfort and quality of life of the residents of the municipality, "explains Jaime Holguín.
“We are fulfilling a dream right now, an old dream, of a city that needed to face historical problems and very large mobility challenges. Today we are beginning to implement this program, which will change the way we live in Contagem , "the mayor added.
The objective of the program is to contribute to the improvement of urban mobility and accessibility in the municipality of Contagem, through investments in transport infrastructure and social and environmental development. The funds will be used to rebuild approximately 30 kilometers of the structural corridors and urban roads of the BRT system, the implementation of BRT system stations and intermodal terminals, the implementation of special works of art, urban and environmental requalification of urban parks; and the installation of approximately six kilometers of cycle paths.
