Argentina, Chile and Mexico Win #IdeasParaElFuturo Competition
CAF–Development Bank of Latin America–has announced the winners of its #IdeasParaElFuturo university student essay contest, held on the occasion of the institution’s 50th anniversary, in partnership with the central banks of other Ibero-American countries.
CAF–Development Bank of Latin America–has announced the winners of its #IdeasParaElFuturo university student essay contest, an initiative organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the institution, which has succeeded in shaping the vision of the future for young Ibero-Americans on key issues pertaining to the development of their countries.
The initiative, organized in partnership with the region’s central banks, received more than 700 entries from across 18 countries, and will award a USD 2,000 prize to the winners in eachcategory during the CAF Annual Conference, to be held in Quito on November 7.
The winner of the Productivity and Innovation category was Argentina’s Paula Luvini, from the University of Buenos Aires, with an essay that analyzes the efficiency of the financier and the correct design for its future. The Integration category award went to the Catholic University of Chile student Yancy Villarroel, whose entry addresses the challenges and expectations for 2030 regarding Latin American regional integration available to all. Last but not least, Antonio Rojas, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, won the Public Policy award with an analysis on how to make public investments in the region more efficient.
“To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we wanted to look to the future together with young people. The #IdeasParaElFuturo competition has confirmed what we already knew to a certain extent: that Latin America is a young, vibrant region with many good ideas and, above all else, major talent that we have to harness.” said CAF executive president Luis Carranza.
The winning students will travel to Quito on November 7 to receive their award and present their essays at CAF’s Annual Conference.
