CAF Pledges USD 500 Million to Boost Public Policies for Vulnerable Groups in Colombia
The budget support loan is set to aid the Colombian government’s efforts to consolidate a public policy that sets the path of basic health care for vulnerable population.
CAF—development bank of Latin America—approved a USD 500 million loan in favor of the Republic of Colombia to help the government’s efforts to promote policies that ensure respect for the rights of nationals and foreigners, improve health care services and the economic integration of the migrant population.
Public policy actions to be implemented are aligned with the government’s strategies prioritized in the 2018–2022 National Development Plan, specifically with regard to the adoption of a comprehensive long-term strategy for the assistance and management of vulnerable groups. These actions have been selected and evaluated jointly with the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (MHCP) and the National Planning Department, in close coordination with the relevant ministries.
“These funds will be very valuable in ensuring the feasibility of public policies aimed at serving vulnerable people in a timely and efficient manner across the nation,” said CAF executive president Luis Carranza.
The loan will also support the achievement of the optimization goals of the government’s financial management as prioritized by the MHCP.
