Loan for Belo Horizonte's urban mobility and health sector

A loan agreement between the CAF-Latin American Development Bank and the city of Belo Horizonte, in the amount of US $ 82.5 million, was signed today in Brasilia. The funds will be used to improve the conditions of mobility, urban drainage and the quality of public health and leisure services in the municipality. The signing event was attended by the representative of CAF in Brazil Jaime Holguín, the mayor of Belo Horizonte, Alexandre Kalil, and the prosecutor of the National Treasury, Suely Dib de Souza e Silva.
Among the main mobility projects to be carried out are interventions in Avenida Cristiano Machado, restoration of urban roads and transport corridors in the Venda Nova region. In the field of urban rehabilitation, at least two public squares will be revitalized (Rio Branco Square and Governador Israel Pinheiro Square). In healthcare, there will be investments in emergency care units (UPAs), the revitalization of Odilon Beherens Hospital, including the construction of its new maternity ward and investments in technology for the modernization of health management systems. in the municipality.
“Belo Horizonte will undergo a major renovation in terms of mobility, health and improved living conditions in various urban areas. For CAF, the projects are an example of a development project, with integrated measures and potential impacts, resulting from the process of population participation in the construction of the city's budget, ”said Jaime Holguín.
"I thank the City Hall's technical team, which made it possible for us to go through all the necessary phases so that we could reach this moment, signing the loan agreement, which will enable a much-needed change for the city," said the mayor.
