CAF and IEA Launch New Open Online Course on Energy Efficiency in Buildings
The course aims to teach participants how to successfully design and modernize energy-efficient buildings.
CAF—development bank of Latin America—and the International Energy Agency (IEA) are launching a new massive open online course (MOOC) on Energy Efficiency in Buildings that offers participants new tools to identify practical options to improve energy efficiency in buildings in Latin America.
The course consists of 4 modules and covers the fundamental technical, design, policy and financial dimensions necessary to delve practically into the subject. It focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, and will discuss the basics of how building design can reduce energy use, the benefits of reducing energy waste, the policy landscape, codes and standards, data and indicators, and finance.
The twofold approach—interdisciplinary and practical—applies fundamental concepts to real-world examples of Latin America and the rest of the world. Interested parties could include: policymakers, architects, engineers, financial institutions, experts, university students and citizens in general.
At the end, participants will have a solid grasp of the “overall picture” and the tools to leverage their own experience and interest to help promote energy efficiency in buildings.
