Multilateral Agencies Support Paraguay’s Measures to Curb COVID-19
The World Bank (WB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and CAF—development bank of Latin America—have expressed their support for the early measures implemented by the Paraguayan government in relation to COVID-19
Faced with the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Bank, the IDB and CAF in Paraguay have confirmed the commitment to support the South American nation with financing, technical cooperation resources, specialized know-how and flexible emergency tools in projects. They also recognize and value the Paraguayan government’s efforts in early measures implemented in the face of the crisis.
The economic and healthcare measures taken are supported by multilateral agencies operating in Paraguay, which have encouraged all sectors to join forces in an effective fight against the virus and reduce the harmful effects of this healthcare crisis. The rapid evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic requires urgent action to help countries address, prevent and reduce contagion and loss of life and curb the economic impact, especially among the most vulnerable groups.
The World Bank, IDB and CAF are fully operational during this global emergency, meeting the needs of the public and private sectors and actively participating in regional and national coordination of actions to combat the virus.
