CAF's Response to COVID-19
CAF- Development Bank of Latin America is providing its swift and timely support to the region, helping it overcome the current COVID-19 pandemic through a series of financial and technical instruments that complement the measures implemented by governments.
The COVID-19 health emergency facing Latin America requires a comprehensive response to safeguard the health of the population, as well as its well-being and its social protection. Preserving business employment and operability is also a hurdle to overcome through the implementation of bold and innovative public policies.
CAF- Development Bank of Latin America is providing its swift and timely support to the region, helping it overcome the current COVID-19 pandemic through a series of financial and technical instruments that complement the measures implemented by governments. The bank’s comprehensive support to help mitigate the social and economic impact provides for a $2.5 billion regional emergency line of credit to strengthen countercyclical economic measures. Small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as the private sector in general, are also expected to benefit from the liquidity being provided to local development and commercial banks to promote Latin America’s economic recovery.
Non-reimbursable technical cooperation resources of up to $400,000 per country are also available immediately, in addition to a contingent line of credit of up to $50 million per country to be allotted directly toward public health systems and the protection of the most vulnerable.
