COVID-19: Helping the Most Vulnerable Call for Proposals Open
CAF and Compromiso Empresarial are looking for the best social innovation initiatives to alleviate the effects of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable areas of Latin America.
CAF- Development Bank of Latin America and Compromiso Empresarial magazine have joined forces to identify proposals for social innovation ideas to address some of the most urgent needs of Latin American’s most vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Helping the Most Vulnerable call aims to find the most outstanding social innovation proposals with the greatest impact in fighting coronavirus, especially those aimed at the most vulnerable sectors of society.
In Latin America, these vulnerable sectors are concentrated in the outskirts of large cities. More than 86 million Latin American households live in below-standard neighborhoods that lack the most basic services. Due to their high population density, overcrowding and lack of primary health services, slums are a potential source of COVID-19 infection.
Thus, the call COVID-19: Helping the Most Vulnerable aims to identify good practices, projects and initiatives already in development in other parts of the world affected by the virus, such as Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and that can be replicated in Latin America.
To this end, the two institutions are asking all those who have launched a project in the realm of health, child care, food or technology, to submit their proposal by April 30. The idea is to share knowledge that may reduce the negative impact in countries that have not yet suffered the consequences of COVID-19, or are still at a very early stage .
A group of specialists selected by CAF and Compromiso Empresarial will choose the best initiatives to publish them in the magazine, as well as through CAF’s channels.
