“Ideas for the Future” Essay Competition Registration Now Open
"Ideas for the Future" is CAF’s annual essay contest aimed at university students and held in partnership with the institution’s member countries’ central banks to promote the exchange and discussion of ideas among young people across Ibero-America.
CAF- Development Bank of Latin America has opened registration for the #IdeasParaElFuturo essay contest, which aims to capture the vision of young university students on the challenges faced in the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The competition, organized in a joint effort by the central banks of a series of Ibero-American countries, is calling young university students between the ages of 18 and 29 to submit original essays on different development-related topics.
Topics that can be addressed include: how to react to economic and/or health crises; how to avoid the middle-income trap; how to balance the social agenda with economic stability; how to establish appropriate mechanisms for the expression of social discontent; which areas of development need more attention; and how to improve the competitiveness of SMEs.
The best national essay will be awarded, as well as the three best essays at the Ibero-American level. The winners at the Ibero-American level will present their essay at the CAF Conference in Latin America, to be held in Mexico City, November 2020. Prizes are as follows:
- Guillermo Perry Award: $3,000
- Second place: $2,000
- Third place: $1,000
All essays must be submitted using the form located on the contest's website, April 1st through September 4th. The email ideasparaelfuturo@caf.com will be enabled for questions and queries.
The jury’s decision will be published on the CAF website on October 1, 2020 for national winners, and on November 5 for regional winners.
