CAF and AFD enable EUR 100 million for green initiatives in Latin America
Investments concerning climate change mitigation and adaptation developed in Latin America will have access to financing in competitive terms. Resources available through this partnership are specially valuable in the context of the COVID-19 emergency.
CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, commitment to promote green initiatives led to additional access to financing granted by the Agence Française De Développement (AFD) in the amount of EUR 100 million through a line of credit extension that resulted in an aggregate amount of EUR 250 million for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects.
The global partnership between CAF and AFD has allowed CAF to mobilize resources from AFD through different schemes that includes three lines of credit totaling USD 640 million, co-financing for USD 760 million, and technical assistance resources for almost USD 10 million. Cooperation aimed at promoting sustainable development in Latin America has benefited large scale projects in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, among other countries.
The attraction of additional resources allows CAF to keep serving its climate change agenda and at the same time to comply with its mandate to support its shareholder countries in the COVID-19 emergency and in the subsequent economy recovery phase.
Cooperation between CAF and AFD promotes the sustainable development of Latin America through a wide variety of resources mobilization and knowledge transfer schemes of high valued added for the benefit of CAF’s shareholders countries.
