The deadline for submission of proposals expired on September 4, and a total of 3,444 students signed up across the region, with a total of 558 essays submitted for review.

The competition kicked off April 1, as part of the activities advanced by the previous administration throughout the region for the 50th anniversary of CAF, which formally began operations on June 8, 1970.
The academic event aims to collect the vision of young university students on the development challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean.
According to the terms of the competition, prizes will be awarded for best essay at the national level and for the three best essays in the Ibero-American region. International winners will present their essays at the CAF Conference, to be held in Mexico City in November 2020.
Also, according to their ranking in the competition, the three best essays will receive the USD 3,000 Guillermo Perry Award; USD 2,000 for the Second Place, and USD 1,000 for the Third Place.
The winners of the first national university essay competition #IdeasForTheFuture were Eliana Sandoval Quispe, of the “San Pablo” Bolivian Catholic University, and Rodrigo Tambo Tórrez, of the Franz Tamayo Private University.
