CAF Presents in Panama "Latin America’s Development Challenge"
Officials, experts and opinion leaders from the region are set to gather at a virtual conversation March 4 to discuss the challenges facing the region following the pandemic in terms of the economy, regulation, transparency and control, as part of CAF's ""Dialogues for Development" talk cycle.
In order to discuss the main ideas expressed in "Latin America’s Development Challenge," CAF - Development Bank of Latin America is set to get together with officials from Panama and Costa Rica, among other specialists. The subject is slated as: “Capacity building and public management for development.”
The launch of the publication and its ensuing discussion is the first in a series of talks CAF calls "Dialogues for Development"", and will take place starting this month across different countries in the region, addressing important issues on the development agenda of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
"We at CAF we are convinced that the "Dialogues for Development" initiative will be a valuable space to share and analyze from a regional glance various topics that afflict us,” CAF executive president Luis Carranza Ugarte said.
“The presentation of "Latin America’s Development Challenge" represents a great starting point to creating greater knowledge of the reality that we are currently and will be facing in the coming years.""Latin America’s Development Challenge" addresses the need to drive growth through key issues such as infrastructure, natural resources, integration, state capabilities, digital revolution, social policies and productivity. The publication, which has among its writers nine renowned experts, including Luis Carranza, Augusto de la Torre, Nora Lustig, Patricio Meller and Eduardo Levy, explores policy initiatives in each of these areas that can be very relevant in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery in the region.
COVID-19’s affects three key aspects: healthcare, the economy and social issues, leaving new challenges and limits to government action and public bureaucracies, in terms of their responsiveness to meet demands in a changing world such as regulating and fiscalizing decision-making in times of emergency.
