Argentina receives funding to modernize air traffic control systems
CAF will provide USD 40.4 million to fund the project, whose scope will cover the entire continental airspace of the 5 flight information regions under Argentine jurisdiction (Comodoro Rivadavia, Córdoba, Ezeiza, Mendoza and Resistencia).
The Board of Directors of CAF—development bank of Latin America—approved financing for USD 40.4 million for Argentina for the Modernization of the Air Traffic Control System project, which calls for revamping physical and digital infrastructure of argentine airspace control systems and the National Airport System.
“This initiative is aligned with the airport, digital and regional integration agendas that we are promoting as an institution in Latin America to improve well-being and sustainable development. Safety and digitalization are critical to building a better future for Argentines,” said CAF executive president Luis Carranza Ugarte.
The project consists of the modernization of the Argentine air traffic control system, by updating 22 RSMA stations with mode S and ADS-B, the installation of 3 new SSRs, the installation of additional SSR systems for en-route transit with mode S and ADS-B, 3 PSR multisensors, 11 ADS-B stations for en-route transit and the installation of 8 radomes for SSR, among others. This equipment is set to improve navigability, control and safety of aircraft for the benefit of Argentinians and to boost competitiveness.
