CAF promotes innovation in the construction sector for the development of Uruguay
Through the Innovation Week program, construction professionals were trained on innovation and productivity improvement.
CAF – development bank of Latin America – held a new edition of the Innovation Week program, training more than 40 participants in various topics related to the construction sector aimed at innovation in such an important sector for Uruguay.
Through this initiative, the multilateral organization reaffirms its objective of strengthening the research, development and innovation capacities of companies with Latin American projection and sectoral research centers to contribute to their productive transformation.
“This type of program allows us to reinforce the inherent capacities of the participating groups, having a direct impact on the productivity and competitiveness of the sector and the country’s economy,” said François Borit, CAF’s representative in Uruguay. “Innovation must be present in all our processes, products and services today. This will allow us to move forward consistently onto the next challenges we will face as a region,” he added.
With the collaboration of the Uruguayan Chamber of Construction (CCU), this latest edition of Innovation Week was held from April 13 to May 4 and focused on 15 Uruguayan construction companies and their employees.
The eight virtual conferences were guided by consultants specializing in corporate innovation and participants gained knowledge on various topics such as Strategy, Governance and Innovation Management; Processes and Systematics to Innovate and Transform Culture; and Change Management; among others. In addition, personalized follow-up sessions were held with each of the participating groups to strengthen knowledge and address problems or opportunities specific to each company.
“Our expectations that Innovation Week would be a boost to innovation in the construction sector have been fulfilled. As a trade union and local partner for CAF, we are very satisfied with the experience and the technical proposal,” said Diego O'Neill, president of the CCU, who highlighted the participation of many young people who turn their hopes towards the necessary innovations in the sector.
Innovation Week is a program that CAF promotes throughout the region, this being its 13th edition and Uruguay the eighth country to host it, presenting outstanding development results that fortify countries and their economies.
